What is Therapy Like?
Therapy can be focused on a singular issue or can last long term – addressing overarching personal issues and working on emotional growth. On occasion, I might suggest books, movies, activities, or other homework. It is always important that I have all relevant data and information, just like your doctor.
For therapy to be effective, you must actively participate in and out of your sessions. One of the most important parts of therapy is making a connection with the client. When I enter a session with clients, I am present with them the entire time we are together. Once the session is over, my attention to the needs of my clients continues. Whether it is returning a phone call in a timely fashion, keeping scheduled appointments or being flexible with a client’s life circumstances, I remain connected.
